Just to say hello!

Hello everyone!  I have another wonderful ScrappyDew File used to make a just to say hello card.  I am trying something different with the blog.  Each week I am changing the Happy Thought.  So be looking for that.  This week I have used the file Baking Gingerbread 2012.  Now you won't find this file in the regular ScrappyDew store.  You need to become a member of the Vault.   Vault members have access to all patterns that ScrappyDew has ever designed.  Grab a membership quick.

For my mentor and my best friend!

This is a very special birthday card.  I make one each year and each year I think this is the best one yet!  This year I used Scrap Factory!  If you haven't worked with it or heaven forbid, you have never heard of it, use the link and go check it out.  It is a program that ScrappyDew created a few years ago.  Gang, it lets you create your own svg files of either a boy or a girl.  So you select a body, hair, outfit and accessory item and then save the file.  The file is automatically saved as a svg file ready for a number of cutters.  Let me show you what I designed but first this weeks colors.

Can you text me now?

Hello my crafty friends.  I'm back with a birthday card for my special friend, Gunnar.  If you don''t know, Gunnar is Michelle's son.  I have been sending cards and various items to him since he started middle school.  He graduates next year.  So a few years have passed.  I always try to make him a card that has a special message or hidden object search each year.  Here is what I came up with for this years card.  But of course, here are the colors for this week.

ScrappyDew Teen Palz cutting file
Recollections Scraps
My amazing 24" Silver Bullet electronic cutter
Sure Cuts A Lot V4.059
Pebbles Chalk
Micron Pens
Prismacolor Pencils
Black contact paper
1/4" round head brads painted black
Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers

So for this card I wanted to make a card with a likeness of Gunnar.  His cards started out as 'cutesy'.  But he's all grown up now.  He has a cell phone so the Teen Palz from ScrappyDew was a perfect file for this year.  I couldn't find any black brads to make it open, so took yellow brads and colored them black.  Other than that the card is pretty easy.  Here is this years edition.

Here is the front of the card.

See the colored brads?

Now mom may have to help but here is the message that I have included

Here is how the numbers and letters came together.  The letters are 1/8 of an inch tall.  Now that is some fancy cutting from my Silver Bullet.

I sure hope that he likes this years edition.  It was really fun to make.  I did have to use a telephone to correctly place the letters.

Now for next week, I will have a return of a character I created a couple of years ago.  Super Crafty Lady is coming back.

Have you best week ever!  Bright blessings,
