Penny's Paper crafty challenge. Anything Goes using paper. Challenge #586

Did you know that in the early 20th century, Coca Cola ran an advertising campaign featuring a Santa Claus in a red suit.  It was wildly popular.  Until then, Santa's clothes were all sorts of different colors.  Thanks Coca Cola for the red suited elf!  My project features a Santa Claus in a different color.  But first here are the sponsors.

The Paper Shelter

Polkadoodles

All I can say is WOW.  These two are some of the very first sponsors I worked with starting in 2013.  Fell in love with both their images and love the way they can be used.  Go over gang and please send love and a big thank you!!

My image for this challenge is from The Paper Shelter and is called Here is Santa!  Here is my card.

Here he is in all his purple splender.  The base is hot pink followed
by some sky blue and finally some purple snowflask digital
paper.  I die cut the Merry Christmas out of Mauve shimmer
paper.  Santa himself is colored with my Prismacolor
Pencils.

Here you can see the purple snowflake paper better.  The Happy
Holidays is cut out of mauve shimmer stock.  The envelope is
dark purple.  I just love the little fuzz balls!

Here is the back and my official initial.

I have been thinking about re-designing my blogs for the new year.  The Rhapsody On Paper blog has had a facelift a couple of years ago.  But Be Happy hasn't.  We'll see.

Thank you so much for visiting.  Remember from my heart to yours,

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge #585. Anything with paper!

Have you ever wondered why Santa is always in red and white?  I decided to find out.  Here are the results.

Santa Claus's iconic red and white outfit is largely thanks to American culture and the Coca-Cola Company!

The modern image of Santa as a jolly, bearded man in a red suit with white fur trim was popularized in the 19th century. Thomas Nast, a political cartoonist, created many of the early illustrations of Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in the late 1800s. However, it was Haddon Sundblom's Coca-Cola advertisements starting in the 1930s that really solidified this image. Sundblom's Santa was depicted as a cheerful, plump man in a red suit with white trim, which matched Coca-Cola's color scheme.

Before these influences, Santa Claus's attire varied in color, often depicted in green, blue, or brown. The red and white ensemble stuck in popular culture, and now it's hard to imagine Santa in anything else!  Ai helped with this answer.

So lets see who the sponsors are for my un-santa like creation!

Such a wonderful surprise.  Two heavy hitters in the digital stamps and supplies trade.  Love them both!  Please go show some love and say a thank you for a great year of sponsorship.

Here is my project.  I was selected to created with The Paper Shelter.  I chose Here is Santa.  Let's get started!

Card base is hot pink.  Mat is sky blue with a background of
purple snowflakes.  I colored Santa using my Castle Art Gold
oil based colored pencils.  I did NOT want to do a traditional
Santa.  I think I accomplished it!

Here is the inside.

Back of card.  The mailing envelope is royal purple.

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge only has one more challenge for 2024 on December 4th.  I do hope that you and yours have a very Happy Thanksgiving (usa).  I will see you in a fortnight for the last challenge of the year.  So from my heart to yours,

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge #584 ATG

Hello all! I have two very cute gnomes to show you today.  But, I have no idea what 'crackers' are.  Can someone help?  Oh well, let's see who our sponsors are.

Our sponsors for this challenge are wonderful.  Love working with both of them.  Please go give them some love and say a quick thank you!

My project is from Sheepski Designs and is called Crackers #253.  Here we go!

I colored the gnomes with my generic markers that i bought on
Amazon.  Next I paper pieced the cracker.  I looked at pics
and I guess that there is a little surprise inside.  Cool!  The
card is hot pink card.  Next layer is from paper that I have had
since the start of this card making journey.   The final layer
is a piece of confetti paper to add a festive vibe.

I was gifted this printable paper from The Paper Shelter a few
holidays back.  It fit perfectly with my card layout.  The
Merry Christmas is a metal die from amazon.
(can you tell I like Amazon?)

Well that is it for the challenge.  I will be back in a fortnight with another image.  So for now, stay safe, stay healthy and know you are blessed!

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge #583 Anything Goes

Alright, can anyone tell me where the rest of October went?  Gosh, Halloween is next week.  I am ready and I actually decorated.  Not like I used to but just the mantle.   Looks nice.  I make little Halloween baskets for the neighborhood kids to keep up the good relationships with the parents.  Never know when you will need a little help (especially with hubby).  Here are the sponsors!

Patties Creations and Mirtellamente are really fantastic designers.  They both have images that are funny but also some that are serious.  Go say thank you and leave some love please.

On to my project.  We don't have large family dinners.  It just mom and dad and the girls.  But I do like to create place holders.  Each year is different.  So for 2024 I have used an image from Patties Creations that is titled Pumpkins with Vines.  Here we go!

First off I colored each pumpkin with the favorite color of the
person.  My name is Jana and my favorite color is Pink.  I found
some stick on letters in my file cabinet.  Put one on each.
You can't really see but I did make vines out of brown pipe
cleaners and attached them to the back to act as vines.  I think
they turned out pretty cute.  The background is a table cloth that
I put on the table at Thanksgiving here in the USA.

That is it for this fortnight.  Next up is another great project from another great sponsor.  Thanks you for visiting.  From my heart to yours,

Stay Healthy, Stay Safe and know you are blessed!

Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge #582 Anything Goes

Hello everyone!  Can you believe it is October already?  It seems that the older I become the faster time travels.  I need to be much better at my timing projects out though.  My daughters birthday is in the month of October and I started to make her purse in July.  But life does happen.  I got it to the point of final assembly and I DID NOT LIKE IT.  So I picked out new fabrics and I am starting again.  I hope to have it done by Halloween.  Oh well.....

This fortnight we have 2 incredible sponsors.  Here they are.

It seems the big sponsors are coming out towards the end of the year.  They are a couple of my fave's.  Please if possible go show some love and say a thank you for sponsoring.

My project for this fortnight is by All Dressed Up and is called Water-Lily.  Here she is!

Isn't she a cutie?  I colored with Arteza Colored Pencils and
tried to find the brightest one.  I did a print and cut after coloring.
The base card is a melloe yellow.  The paper square is a leftover
scrap from another project.

Here is the inside.

The back.

I think this gal turned out pretty cute.  I am sure that she will brighten someones day.  Thank you for stopping by.  I will be back in two weeks with another creation.

So for now, Stay Safe, Stay Healthy and know you are blessed.  Gang, please say a little prayer for the people in the way of Hurricane Milton.  It looks like a doozy.

Penny's Paper challenge #581 anything goes using paper.

Hello everyone!  It's Fall in Oregon.  The most beautiful time of the year.  Amazing leaf peeping.  I just love it.  But why the heck was it 94 degrees F today?  Weatherman says it should be the last day in the 90's.  I sure hope so.  Bring on the rain and storms.  Here are the sponsors for our challenge this fortnight.

Two wonderful sponsors for this challenge.  They both have digital images that can be used for just about any occasion.  Go tell them thank you and leave a little love.

My image for the challenge is from Fred She Said and is called Fall Flowers a Aster.  Here we go...

I don't keep sympathy cards on hand.  I like to customize each
card to the family that it is going to.  This one is an exception.
I have it on hand just in case.  The base is a dark green.  The
floral paper is origami paper.  I colored the asters with my
oil based colored pencils because the blend so nicely.  Next
I dug out some foil embellishments and made the greeting.

The inside.  I will write a personal note when the card is needed.

The back.

I really like how this card turned out.  Oh, the card is a 5x7.  Pretty big but it will be a stand out.  I am so happy your decided to spend a little time with me today.  Please leave a comment if you would please.

So from my heart to yours,  stay safe, stay healthy and know you are blessed.

Penny's Paper Crafty Corner challenge #580 ATG

Hello everyone!  I did something that I have not done before.  I'm pretty proud of myself.  I got a ladder and put it under the chandelier in the front room.  Got my cleaning stuff (Windex) and cleaned that light.  I am extremely afraid of ladders.  I thought I would just share that.  (go me).  Here are the sponsors for challenge #580.

Colour Of Love

I love to work for both of these sponsors.  They both have images that would suit most occasions.  So please go and say a big thankyou and leave some love.  They really do appreciate it!

For my creation I have used an image from Colour of Love.  It is titled Little Pumpkin Fairy.

I started out with black cardstock for the base and added
a orange layer and then a colorful fall color layer.  I colored my
image with my Castle Arts Oil based colored pencils.  I got some
areas blended and others I need to practice.  I wanted a Halloween
card without the traditional orange and black.  I still wound up
with the traditional colors but added in some purple and burgundy.

The inside

The back

This is the front of the envelope.  I really like decorating
the front.  I will put packing tape over the image before I send
it.

I found a very old Halloween paper that is double sided. When
I found it I knew I had to use it.  How fun!

Well that wraps up another anything goes challenge at Penny's.  I hope that you can come and play.  But for now...

Stay Healthy, Stay Safe and know you are blessed.

Penny's Challenge #579 Anything goes

Hello!  First I have to tell you about a big hurdle I accomplished this week.  I have cathedral ceiling of 18 feet in the front of the house.  I also have a chandelier.  Both were filthy dirty.  The ceiling had a massive amount of cobwebs and I had never cleaned the light because of being afraid of heights.  I tackled them both!!! I got on the 4th step of the ladder and scrubbed the light and I have an extension pole that I attached a cobweb tool and swatted them down.  I am pretty proud of myself.  What is something you have accomplished this week?   Hope to hear from you to cheer you on!  On to the challenge.  Here are the sponsors.

🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒

These sponsors are so fun to work with.  Images that can work for just about any situation that you need a card for.  Please go leave a little love and a thank you.  They really do appreciate it.

On to my project.  I have an image from Dr. Digi's called 'Gnome Improvements'.  Here is my finished creation.

The card base is royal blue Recollections.  The gnome was
colored using my Arteza Colored Pencils.  The bucket and
table also colored pencil.  The rest of the scene is paper
pieced.  Ever heard of polka dot paint?  Here you have it.
Some snowflakes wallpaper is included.  Christmas presents
and some kitty cats round out the project Mr. Gnome is
completing.  Beige/Tan Recollections envelope is included.

The inside. I stamped and embossed a scrap of paper
and created the greeting.

The back.

So that's it for this fortnight.  I'll be back with another creation in 14 days.  Until then...

Stay Healthy, Stay Safe and know you are blessed.
